Gateway to Galloway to Corsewall
- Arrive at Gateway to Galloway, pick up bike and receive in person tutorial.
- Continue along Agnew Crescent/A718 past Agnew Park, until you reach a roundabout. From this take 3rd exit. Continue along this road until you reach Kirkcolm. (6.4miles)
- When you reach Kirkcolm Village continue onto Main Street/B738, following signs for Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel. (4.3miles)
Corsewall to Killantringan
- Leave Corsewall Lighthouse, heading back to Kirkcolm, but take exit for Leswalt/B798. Continue road along to Leswalt (4.6miles)
- When you reach Leswalt, take road for Stranraer. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit. (4.7miles)
- Continue along road and follow signs for Killantringan Lighthouse (3.7miles)
Killantringan to Portpatrick
- Head back up towards the Southern Upland Way via unnamed single-track road (1.5miles)
- Turn right onto B738 heading to Portpatrick (1.8miles)
- Turn right onto Main Street A77 to Portpatrick (0.7miles)

Route from Portpatrick Harbour Summar:
Portpatrick to Killantringan
- Arrive at Portpatrick Harbour, pick up bike and receive in person tutorial.
- Head towards Main St and follow until you leave Portpatrick village, take the next left onto B738 (0.7miles)
- Continue on B738 for 1.8miles, turn left at signpost for Killantringan Lighthouse and follow the road for 1.5miles until you reach destination.
Killantrigan to Corsewall
- Head back up towards the Southern Upland Way via unnamed single-track road (1.5miles)
- Turn left onto B738 for 0.2miles, then take a right at signpost for The Southern Upland Way onto Rawers Rd (3miles)
- At the next junction take a right, continue along road until you reach a roundabout from there, take the 2nd exit onto A718. (1.4miles)
- Continue along A718 until you reach Kirkcolm village, then continue onto Main Street/B738, following signs for Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel. (7.9miles)
Corsewall to Gateway to Galloway
- Leave Corsewall Lighthouse, heading back to Kirkcolm B738 (3.3miles)
- Continue along A718 for 3.6miles, take the 1st exit at the roundabout and continue along A718 until you reach Gateway to Galloway (2.5 miles)

Surface and terrain
- Cyclists are urged be cautious and to follow road safety protocols to remain safe along ‘A’ roads. During peak season, roads can be busy with travellers. Road surface generally flat but may be uneven in some areas which need maintenance.
- ‘B’ roads tend to be much quieter for a relaxing cycle, but please be mindful of tractors passing on narrower roads and cars coming round bends. Road surface generally flat but may be uneven in some areas which need maintenance.
- The lane down to Corsewall Lighthouse is rocky and has potholes. Proceed with caution.
- There is a cattle grid on the road down to Killantringan Lighthouse.
- The trail has a mixed gradient, there are uphill cycling points, however this is aided with the help of E-Bikes.
Tour Highlights
- Portpatrick – Seaside village with many hotels & restaurants with outdoor seating, perfect for sunny days. There are a few local gift shops and convenience stores. There is a putting golf near the harbour and a small beach with a nearby ice cream parlour.
- Leswalt – Small village with a wide-ranging local shop. Point of interest – Aldouran Wetland Garden, free entry with toilet on site.
- Kirkcolm – Soleburn Garden centre 3 miles from Kirkcolm and 0.6 miles from roundabout. On site café and shop within the Garden Centre. Point of Interest – RAF Wig Bay – flying boat storage yard & observation post.
- Corsewall – Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel open for tea & coffee and light snack during the afternoon. 5 course dining experience by reservation only.
- Stranraer – There is plenty to see and do in Stranraer from shops, playparks, museum, swimming pool and many fine eateries.
