The Taxing Stone

Believed to be a Toll point between the ancient kingdoms of Galloway and Carrick, the standing stone may mark the burial-place of Alpin, King of Dalraida, killed in 741 in Glenapp. The stone can can be found on the Mull of Galloway Trail (more information on the trail can be found under ‘walking’ page)
