Stranraer Museum

Stranraer’s historic Old Town Hall, built in 1776, is now home to Stranraer Museum. Step inside and discover Wigtownshire’s fascinating past. See one of Scotland’s oldest ploughs, experience Victorian Wigtownshire through the wonders of 3D photographs and follow in the footsteps of Stranraer’s own Polar explorers.  We host a number of displays ranging from archaeology and local history to farming and dairying. We also run a series of temporary feature displays throughout the year, introducing a wide range of exhibits ensuring there are activities and points of interest for visitors of all ages. You can find The Museum on George Street near the centre of town and only a short walk from town square.
