Festival Officer appointed

The Trust has recently appointed their Festival Project Officer, Becky Toon. Becky will be based in the town and since starting with the Trust she has spent some time with Creetown Initiative, who have been the Trust’s partners since the start of the Development Trust. They have handed over the Festival work to Becky who has masses of event management experience gained working for Derby University. Romano Petrucci, Chairman, has welcomed the arrival of Becky “The Trust are thoroughly delighted to have Becky on board, we know we have made the right choice and we are looking forward to helping her to make the Stranraer Oyster Festival become the biggest and best we can make it. Becky will shortly be making contact with those people who previously expressed an interest in volunteering to help in some way either before or during the Festival.”

The Trust now has funding and sponsorship in place to make the Festival jam packed with activities – something for everyone. The full programme will be announced shortly. The Oyster Festival will be an annual event and Romano said “This is a very exciting time to see the idea coming to life and being part of an event developing into one which we hope will help to put Stranraer on the map in terms of attracting visitors to the town. We see the Festival complimenting the other Stranraer 400 celebrations and the existing events that already take place in the town, Parkfest, the Lowland Gathering and the Cattle Show. It’s really a special year for our town”.
