Job Description

Job Title:  Gateway to Galloway Project Officer

Organisation: Stranraer Development Trust

Duration: 24 months

Hours & Salary:35 hrs per week may include evening and weekend work Salary £24,000 PA.

Location: Stranraer, office base Gateway to Galloway Centre, with occasional travel as necessary

Responsible To: Stranraer Development Trust Board of Trustees & Project Coordinator

Responsible For: Daily operations of Gateway to Galloway Centre including management of part time staff members and volunteers.

Job Purpose:

Stranraer Development Trust is a registered charity and was set up to achieve sustainable regeneration of the community of Stranraer addressing a range of economic, social, environmental and cultural issues that the town faces.  Gateway to Galloway Centre is a new and exciting way for SDT to deliver a first class customer service through various avenues whilst displaying a passion for the area and wealth of local knowledge.

Main Responsibilities:

The development and organisation of the Gateway to Galloway Centre to align with business plan proposal.

Skill & Experience

The following key skills are essential requirement when applying for the position unless indicated otherwise

Community development qualification or similar desirable.

Previous experience of managing and delivering a range of community projects.

Previous experience of working with the tourism sector.

Previous experience working within a community organisation.

Previous experience in the supervision of staff.

Self-motivated and ability to work under own initiative.

Ability to work with and motivate volunteers.

Confident in providing presentations to groups and organisations.

Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint presentations, excel and access.

Confident in social media.

Ability manage workload within time available.

Able to meet deadlines and targets.

Able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and abilities.

Able to manage project budgets.

Driving licence desirable but not essential

Performance Management

To manage your own performance and any volunteers you may be responsible for in accordance with the company’s values of customer first, continuous improvements, openness and honesty, local decision making and team working.

To develop knowledge and skills required by a community project Officer.

To achieve the agreed performance targets detailed in the work plan and contribute to performance appraisal activities.

To manage your own performance in compliance with all Codes, Regulations and procedures including Code of Conduct, Health and Safety and Governance.

To manage risk, promote risk awareness and prioritise work in light of the risk analysis.
